Tri Spirit Events’ Hole Park MTB Duathlon has been chosen by Triathlon England to be the National Cross Duathlon Championships for 2015.
The event set in the grounds of Hole Park near Tenterden, Kent offers a testing challenging but thoroughly enjoyable course. The run section takes you past the Hole Park orchards while the MTB section will have you crossing fords, wooded areas, and passing a windmill.
Liz King, Event Director, Tri Spirit Events said: “We are thrilled to bringing a Championship event to the South East. Hole Park is an ideal location for a multisport event and it’s great the governing body feels the same. We hope the multisport community will enjoy this event as much as we enjoy putting it on. It is a course that is challenging, and provides enough difficulty for the expert mountain bikers to enjoy, but is not too intimidating for those who are new to off-road duathlons. It will certainly sap the legs. Come along and give this event a go, you never know you could end up as a National champion.”
Edward Barham, owner of Hole Park Estate said: “Hole Park is delighted that Tri Spirit Events has been successful in its bid to host Triathlon England’s National Cross Duathlon Championship at Hole Park on Sunday 29 March 2015. This event will build on the excellent and well received duathlons held earlier this year. Everyone at Hole Park looks forward to the event and showing off our great countryside and challenging course and working with Tri Spirit Events to make this memorable day.”
Despite being seen on a bike recently owner Edward Barham is hopeful that he “does not have to attempt the course” himself.
There are three distances to try at. Hole Park – the sprint, standard which is the national championship distance, and the super for those who like to go long.
It is just part of a brilliant weekend of off-road sport at Hole Park, with two trail runs on the Saturday at 10K and Half Marathon distances.
Entry for spectators is free, and they will be able to enjoy the award-winning Hole Park gardens on both days, and the amazing home-made refreshments at the cafe in the courtyard.
