Tri Spirit Team Go The Distance

KCA 12 Hour TT

aly12hr

Local triathletes and cyclists had an eventful weekend, with Tri Spirit Team members pushing the boundaries at events.

Three members - Dave Spice, Bob Burden and Aly Nye - took on the Kent CA 12hour Time Trial on Sunday. The weather conditions played a major part for such a feat of endurance.

The route took the cyclists on circuits near Shadoxhurst, Hamstreet, Woodchurch and Tenterden. Tri Spirit Team members held strong with Bob Burden and Aly Nye  both finishing. Aly Nye the only lady from Tri Spirit Team riding the event put in a great performance, cycling 168 miles within the time. Dave Spice unfortunately had to withdraw due to an injury but is already considering next year's event. - Thanks to Nick Wilson, Rye Wheelers for the photos.

Clacton Triathlon

Further afield Vic Kenny and Julie Bradford flew the flag for Tri Spirit Team at the Clacton Triathlon in Essex. Both were racing in only their second standard distance triathlon, having only started in the sport this year.

The event consisted of a 1,500m sea swim, 40K bike and a 10K run.

Kenny said: "The sea was very rough, with the waves hiding the sighting buoys which made it very difficult to see the right way to go."

However this didn't deter Kenny or Bradford as they continued on with the cycle section of the race which had some climbs that tested the legs. Onto the run course and Kenny held strong for second place in 2:16:42. Bradford came over the line in 13th position, some 17 minutes quicker than her previous best time in 2:42:15. This is an amazing achievement for both Kenny and Bradford who are both in their first triathlon season.
