Tri Spirit Team travelled to Minnis Bay for the John Flitch Memorial Duathlon, which consisted of 2.4 mile run, 9 mile mountain bike section and finished with 4.5 mile run.
On a crisp, bright but chilly morning 10 members of Tri Spirit started the event with the first, shorter run along the promenade and back, before tackling the mountain bike section. This consisted of two 4.5 miles laps of muddy terrain, which was then repeated for the final run, with the taxing addition of sand dunes to sap the legs.
Members were either racing individually, or as teams of two or three, and there were some impressive performances on the day. First home for Tri Spirit in the individual duathlon was Neil Wood, a great result as he was taking part in his first duathlon.
Second home for the individual Tri Spirit racers was Liz King, who came an impressive 3rd lady overall, and 1st Lady Vet 45.
Nigel Coar came through next, followed by Lisa Nightingale who was competing in her first multisport event.
Victoria Kenny and Trevor Bridge bagged another win for the team, as the first mixed team of two to finish, with Julie Bradford and Hannah Lacey adding yet another gong with their cyclist as the first team of three.
Jane Reeve and Ali Steed also gave the event a go, with Steed doing a personal best for the first run section, before she handed over to Reeve, who managed to complete the final half lap of the bike section standing after her seat broke.
King said: "It was a great day for everyone, with many of us doing our first duathlons, and it was brilliant once again to have all of the support for each other out on the course. The results speak for themselves, and if we are competing so well at this early stage in the season, the team is clearly going from strength to strength."
