Shropshire Triathlon, Ellesmere British Standard Distance Triathlon Championships
Victoria Kenny and Julie Bradford, Tri Spirit Team made the five hour trip to Shropshire for the British Standard Distance Triathlon Championships.
The raced started with a 1,500m swim in the mere at Ellesmere followed by a very testing and undulating bike route and finished off with a 10K run.
Kenny had an excellent race and placed 26th overall, putting her in the UK's top 20 female age-group triathletes at this distance, and finished 5th in her age group in a time of 2.17.18. Unfortunately Kenny picked up a 2-minute penalty, which cost her the chance to apply to represent Great Britain at the World Championships. Luckily there is another race later in the year and she still might be able to qualify.
Julie Bradford put in a solid performance in what was the first time she had raced at this distance, after struggling with various injuries in the past year. However overcoming all this Bradford finished 16th in her age group crossing the finish line in 2.45.07.
Bradford said: "My next target is the Brett Ashford Triathlon standard distance on August 19, where I hope to improve on my time."
