New to multisport events and think a triathlon is too daunting? Or can't run through injury, or an aversion of that part of a triathlon? Then why not try an AquaBike.
Forget images of swans, frogs or ducks being pedalled across the water, an Aquabike is simply 'a run short of a triathlon' - where you only undertake the swim and the bike elements of a triathlon, without the run at the end.
It is an ideal event if you want to get involved in multisport for the first time, have an injury that prevents you from running - or even if you just hate running - as it means you can keep your multisport racing mojo alive and kicking without pounding the ground.
Tri Spirit Events, based in Ashford, Kent is one of the only events companies offering Aquabikes as a discipline, and is thought to be the only firm offering both Sprint (750m Swim/20km Bike) and Standard (1,500m Swim and 40km Bike) discplines for this event in the UK.
They are holding both Aquabike events at the Brett Ashford Triathlon at the Julie Rose Stadium on 19th August 2012, with the swim taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Conningbrook Lake, and the bike section will take competitors through the picturesque Kent countryside before a stadium finish. There is an early bird price for competitors who sign up before March 31 for both Aquabikes, and also the Sprint and Standard triathlons being held on the same day.
