Transition T2
T2
You will come into T2 on your bike, and it is usually in a different place to the exit from T1, but not always. Sometimes, if there is what is called a ‘split transition’ your T2 will be in a completely different place to T1.
You must dismount your bike before the dismount line, or risk disqualification, but the marshals for the event will usually help you with this by telling you where you should dismount. Again though, you should have checked this out the day before the race.
Keeping your helmet on until you have re-racked your bike is essential – you could again get disqualified if you don’t. The best way to remember this is that if you have your hands touching your bike at any time during the race, you must have a helmet securely fastened to your head. Those are the rules.
Once you have racked your bike, change as quickly as you can into your run shoes – you should not need to change anything else by this stage, but it depends on your choice of kit [link to kit] – and then head out of T2 by the correct exit.
The next line you will cross is the finish line, if everything goes well.
